Wasuvietos, D. C., Nov. 23. 1876: There seems to be a sprit of unrest in the streets and in the offices. Parties meet with the question, Who? on their lips, and part with the response, Yes, who. Tosday all are for Tilden, to-morrow for Hayes, and vise versa. Business is unusually dull ow. ing probably to the indecision regarding the Presidential election. Some of our large houses have already fallen, and others are wavering. Fancy steres are brighten- ing with goods for the holidays, and judg- ing by the number of the fair sex flitting in and out, their worth is fully appreciated. The session of Congress convening two weeks ‘rom next Monday will doubtless be one of absorbing interest and unusual ex-~ citement. With the great amxiety and sus- pense in regard to the recent election which the people of the United States have suffered the returns even from the South are still in abeyance, on which the issue mainly depends may be so indefinite, and so many side points will remain to be ad- jested, that for the first time in our history we may not be reliably advised as to who shall be our next President until the 14th of February when the electoral vote will be declared officialiy. Theinterest in the subject is as intense now, apparently, as it wason Wednesday morning succeeding the election, and forms the staple of con-~ Yersation here at the National Capital. It measures about 12 inches in length by 6 in width, and weizhs 24 Ibs. If potatoes of this kind were generally raised, the measure of the potatoe would be by the cord, not by the bushel.—Pictou Standard.

the demand for my make Of Oarriages, Sleighs. Threshing Machines, Fanuers, &e., in King’s County, bas rendered it necessary, in order to supply the rapicly increasing demand, that | should extend my business into that County. I have, therefore, at the request of a large number of iny friends and patrons, opened a BRANCH FACTORY AT CARDIGAN BRIDGE, which is conducted by a competent mechanic, who served his time in the ‘* Nonpareil,” and has since worked for several years in the United States—a mechanic who knows his business, and has such an interest in the work as to He and several competent workmen will aitend to the wants of the public in that County.

The stock used in the construction of the work will be of the best imported, viz:— American Hickcry, Oak, Ash, Elm, Bass, Whitewood, etc., etc. The iron will be of the best English refined: and Norway and Swedish iron will be used for the parts re quiring extra strength anc durability.

Also, in connection with the said branch is a PAINTSHOP, which is conducted by a first-class carriage-painter, who will attend to the painting of new and second-hand work for the public.
