Two Goop Oxes.—We learn that on Mon- day last the well-known All Right trotting mare owned by Mr. Henry McLeod, of Dun- staffnage, dropped a splendid Westlawn foa!; and on Thursday another of his trotting mares dropped another beauty by the same sire. Both are fillies. The first-mentioned one is a light bay, and the other a chestnut—both solid colors. The All Right foal is eligible for registration. Buth show the good points of their parents, and will, we have no doubt, develop into something good and fast. Mr. McLeod has, we understand, already had an offer for one or both of them, but declined to

Drowned Hersetr WuHite INsaNe.— Says the Truro Guardian :—Mrs. Jacob Fenton, aged about 50 years, became insane a few days ago, and had beew in the care of her husband and some friends, who were keeping a careful watch upon her. During Saturday night, when her husband and others were in the kitchen, she went to her bedroom, raised the window and jumped out. Her absence was noticed only a tew minutes afterwards, and a search made,

Orrawa, May 9. The Minister of Marine has decided to utilize the Stanley in the protection service this season. La Canadianne has already left Quebec for the Magdalen Islands. The remainder of the fleet will consist of the Vigilant, Dream and probably two special schooners, all of which will be in com- mission this month.

A Costly Blaze.

CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 9. The Bellaire goblet works at Findley, Ohio, wefe burned this morning. Logs, $115,000 ; insurance, $65,000. Some 300 men are thrown out of employment. The works are the largest of the kind in the world. They will be rebuilt at once.

CooKSHIRE, Que., May 9. Nomination for Compton to fill the vacant seat caused by the death of Hon. Mr. Pope, took place here to-day. Rufus Pope, son of the deceased, Conservative, and T. B. Munro, Grit, were nominated.
