NO PROBLEM PARKING AT UPEI

UPEI has good parking fa- cilities compared to other Cana- dian Universities with over 1200 free parking spaces. But park- ing isn’t a problem free at UPEI while come call it a parking prob- lem, A.J. MacLeod, Chief of Se- curity, refers to it as “a walking problem”.

Security usually gives, de- pending on the seriousness of the violation, 1 warning (ticket) be- fore towing a particular offender.

One of the worst problems on campus is illegal parking in des- ignated disabled parking spaces. Other problems include parking in reserved areas or areas not specified as parking.

Although it is inconvenient to have to park down by the Barn and walk all the way across campus, you take your chances by parking illegally when there are legal parking spaces available. Most students can’t afford a tow- ing bill. It’s not in many students

lems. Snow removal is often ham- pered by improper parking, and lack of snow removal make proper parking difficult.

When people can’t even agree on the problem, they are not likely to find a solution. Cour- tesy, common sense and legal parking might help. It’s uncom- mon that parking, at Universi- ties is free, so we’re lucky in that respect. Just because its free doesn’t mean it’s worthless, don’t abuse it please.- Others use the facilities too.

It is finally in operation, it has matured from a solitary lunch desk to a fully operational Stu- dent Union Information Centre. The beast to which I refer can be found to the left of the ramp as you enter the Pit.

Why have a desk in the Pit? What does it do? This is one of the more focal points on cam- pus, thus, a seemingly great place to provide a service to stu- dents. As for the latter question, well..IT DOES ALMOST EV- ERYTHING! Its primary func-- tion is an Information Centre. The Centre contains informa- tion and literature on: CFS, SWAP, The GEM, Theater Soci- ety, CIMN Constitutions, Nom- ination forms, job applications, calendars, MAPUS, SMT Bus
