For what it is worth, we might comment that our Panthers are the first team this year to score 20 points against highly rated Acadia. Our season ends at home this Saturday and we have high hopes of getting our first win of the season by trim- ming Nbunt Allison, who ' eked out their only win of the season by beating us 13-6 in a controversial game in which we had every statistical advantage except the score. (But what else counts?) We hope our. injured players are able to play in this, the final contest, as it would be nice

Over ’ Wolfville, on Saturday last, the home— town cheerleader's drummer was beating her annoying instrurent directly behind our bench in some- what discouraged fashion throughout the opening quarter. Our valiant Panthers appeared to be or their merry way to tie biggest upset in years, tearing into nationally ranked and league-leading Acadia as they scored touchdowns the first two times they gained _
possession of the ball. After tie opening Axeman kickoff, our Socky MacDonald ran the ball back '40 yeards, almost
to midfield. From there Q.B. Rick Kiraly directed play to their 11 yard line from where he went over himself on a quarter— back draw for the opening score. 'IWo plays later our Dan DesJardins inter— cepted the first Acadia pass of the day and carried the ball to the Acadia 23. A few plays later, from the Acadia 3 yard line, John Paul ‘ lvbIntyre (for a T.D. we'll accord him all three ' names) added another 6 points and, after tlre waddling Whippet breeder booted tl'e, ball through the posts, we were ahead l3-0. At the opening of the second quarter Acadia narrowed the gap with a touchdown and then disaster struck as Kiraly was injured on a scrambl- ing attempt as he was , buried under a gaggle of Acadia linesmen. Rick's shoulder was badly twisted and lne was forced to leave thegameandmaybe lostto the team for the season. We feel this had a great effect on the play as the offense had to be
juggled to cover for his absence. From l'ere, holes were opened in the Panther dike and our backfield was flooded as the Axemen went into high gear and quickly assumed the lead. All— Canadian Quarterback, Bob Cameron passing for over

But congratulations on your real efforts. a With all the football disappointment. . .and we think we had one of the best teams in the league, although the record books will not slow it. . .and Wait glad to report that the HOCKEY season is now upon us and we hope that all Panther fans will wend their cleerful way to the Forum this Saturday night for the Panther Invitational Tournament. From these games we should be able to assess our potential for the coming season. At 5:00 p.m. Nbunt Allison plays Acadia and at 8:00 we face Dalhousie. 'Ihe oon- ' solation game goes at noon V on Sunday (hopefully of little interest to us) and
the final at 3:00.
From what we can learn, all the teams in t‘re league have improved; Dalhousie are said to be strong in scoring but doubtful on
defense; Acadia young, fast
skating and high scoring, while munt Allison are
