THE POOR STRIKE BACK!

Several days ago, this ma- terial was submitted to the Cadre office for publication. These lettere were drawn up by an individual who hopes to combat poverty in the city of Charlottetown, and wants his compatriots in the city slums to protest andother- wise act against their condi- tions. Copies of these letters have already been circulated throughout the city by stud- ent volunteers.

A commission set up to check:

a) Types of housing supplied by landlords;

b) investigate the housing situation;

c) Investigate the condition of the house:

1) fire escapes 2) types of heating

3) cost of heating per month (proof)

4) whether the house is infested with; bed bugs, cockroaches, rats mice, etc.

5) Does the landlord pro- vide a place for you to put your garbage or do you have to keep it in the house until the garbage collector comes.-

d) A maximum amount of money for the type of apartment or house.

70Power Does It Again

The Seniors came across strong again when they took the Intramural S o f t b all Champion ship this year by wiping out the Juniors 16-11. Captain Brian (Big Mutha). McAskill fielded a s t r o n g team with the straight pitch- ing of Frank Turner. Despite the cold day the pitching was pertty good. The strong-hit- ting Seniors have thus taken their second championship of the year.

Intramural H o c k e y and Basketball look very promis— ing from all angles this year.

like they will provide some of the best intramural competi- tion ever.

Buzzer Basketball and Hoc- key also look promising this year. There has always been lots of participation in Buz- zer hockey, but Buzzer bas- ketball sort of dropped by the wayside last year; this year we’re hoping it will come in- to its own. again.
