Emergency Medical Situations on Campus

Occasionally, an accident or medical emer- gency occurs On campus involving a student, a faculty or staff person, or a member of the pub- lic visiting the University. These occasions arise despite the hour of the day or the day of the week

Thus, the purpose of this communication is to advise faculty and staff on the process to follow for emergency situations that may arise on campus.

If you identify any individual in a medical crisis (for example, injury or accident, seizure, fainting spell, asthmatic attack, chest pain), call the Security Department at 566-0384. A Secu- rity Office will be dispatched to your area. All the Security Officers are trained in First Aid measures and CPR techniques.

The Security Officer will assess the situa- tion and implement further measures as required, including suggesting or assisting the individual to access medical care or call an ambulance. Your role will be to assist the Security Officer as he/she directs.

1998 Yearbooks

The 1998 yearbooks are In and available for pick-up or purchase. The books are free for 1998 gradu- ates and cost $10 for anyone else who Is interested. The books can be picked up at the Barn or the Year- book office (Main 09).

Also, the deadline for submissions of Grad Photos (March 31“, 1999) is fast approaching. Photos can be submitted to the Yearbook office at any time.

Prings Fan Schhlaship = Amount: $500.00

Eligibilty: A student must be enrolled or ac- cepted for enrolment as a full time law student at an accredited university law school for the aca- demic year 1999-2000. Proof of enrolment or acceptance for enrolment for the 1999-2000 aca- demic year must accompany the application.

Method of Selection: A committee selected by the Council of Law Society of Prince Edward Island shall determine the recipients of the schol- arship each year.

Criteria: Awarding of the scholarship is based on scholastic attainment in the previous one (1) year of academic study and demonstrated finan- cial need.

Deadline for Submission of Applications: July 31, 1999

Graduate Scholarships

Are you planning to go on to Graduate Studies?

We have six scholarships available to students who are pursing their studies at other universities. Brief descriptions are listed below and applications are available at the Registrar's office and student serv- ices

Completed application forms, along with a copy of your acceptance letter for graduate stud- jes, must be returned to the Registrar's Office by Friday, 30 July 1999.

The Dr. Lorne M. Bonnell Bursary, valued at $250, is offered to a student proceeding to graduate studies in Medicine (preferably born in Prince Edward Is- land and preferably a resident of King’s County or Southeastern Queens - Wood Islands, Belle River)

The Mr. Justice Mark R. MacGuigan Memorial Scholarship, valued at $500, is offered to a student

proceeding to graduate studies, preferably in Law.

The Dr. LI. Duffy Memorial Award, valued at $500, is offered to a student proceeding to graduate studies in Denustry. The W. Chester S. McLure Memorial Fellowship is available for a graduating student or graduating stu- dents from UPE! to assist such graduating student or graduating students to continue his or her studies in the field of Business Administration or Political Sci- ence at any of the following universities: Boston University, Boston, MA Cambridge University, England Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS Harvard University, Cambridge, MA London School of Economics,

York University, Toronto ON The Lena Caroline McLure Scholarship of $250 is available to a UPEI graduate student receiving a Bach- clor of Music degree in singing, who plans to pursue his/her music education at cither The Royal Conserva- tory of Music, Toronto, Ontario, or the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto.

The Arlie Parks Scholarship is available in memory of Dr. Kenneth MacIntyre to a UPEI graduate stu- dent who has been accepted for the study of medi- cine at a University or Medical School or College which in the opinion of the President and Academic Vice-President of the University is qualified for that purpose.
