The Heavenly Blue Llnum Flax Flower is one of the loveliest per- ennials and they have been trans- planted from the field where the seed was sown and are now in the borders. The finely cut foliage is always attractive and there is a graceful profusion of bloom. Sweet William and Canterbury Bells have also been transplanted and it is a good time to do this work. A very pretty wedding was sol- emnized at the Central Chris- tian Church on Friday afternoon. July 4th. when Jean Shirley. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irai Stewart, New Perth. became the bride of Harold Gordon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon MacKay. Charlottetown.

The church was tastefully dec- orated with baskets of peonies.i roses and orange blosoms. i

The ceremony was performed, by Mr, M. D. Dunbar.

The bride, given in marriage by her father. wore a full length gown of white satin with lace yoke studded with pearls. and lace in- sets in skirt. Her fingertip veil fell froma tiara of seed pearls and she carried a bouquet of red Carnations.

Miss Hazel Stewart. sister of the bride, was maid of honour. wear- ing a gown of pink nylon net with satin trim and matching head- dress.

Miss Sylvia Orford, as brides- maid. wore a gown of organdr, and matching headdress.

Should Gk! Keep Up The Correspondence Anyway?

DEAR. MISS DIX: A little over a year ago I said good-bye to a soldier friend who was -going overseas. We corresponded. gradually ntfirst. than later writing quite frequently. He asked me not to write Ianyone else. A few months ago his letters ceased. but I kept on writing for awhile. then became discouraged and stopped. I made one last fry, which he answered with the excuse that he had gone on A big drinking spree and was too ashamed to write me. Our correspond- ence was resumed. but it has now been a month since I heard from him. Should I continue writing him even though I get no response?

ANSWER: The problem of correspondence with overseas servicemen looms large in the lives of many girls. In general. I suggest that unless an indication is given that the boy wishes to dis- continue writing altogether, it is better for the girl to take a chance and continue newsy, friendly let- ters, though on a less frequent basis.

There are so many reasons why the boys might taper off a correspondence, and since letters from home are so very important to them. it is much better to risk scnding mail that might not be answered than it is to let the boys down.

It would. of course, be very unwise of you, or any other girl similarly situated. to become emotionally involved with a boy who writes so spasmodlcally. Regard him only as a friend. rind don't ex- pect too much of him while he's away. or build rosy dreams about a future when he returns. Baked Bananas

Baked bananas are ideal for children and for nervous persona. Bake in the skin for 15 or 20 min- utes. until soft and they burst the skins. Remove from the skins and lny them in a baking pan with very little water. Dust sugar over the top and sprinkle with lemon Juice. Serve hot.

IRRADIATION OF THYBOID GLAND IN ECZEMA

I have written before of the pro- fessor who told his students that if they called every case of skin disease eczema, they would be right at least half the time-so, if in doubt, call the.skin disease eczema.

For years, skin specialists treated the majority of skin ailments with x-rays with good results but. dur- ing the last years. x-ray treatment has not been used as much directly on an inflamed skin.

In the Vienna Medical Journal. Dr. F. Hammer reports that of 1.000 patients with chronic eczema, 900 recovered completely under local irradiation with very small doses of soft x-rays. where previous treat- ment with ointments had failed. The remaining l00 patients proved refractory (stubborn) to local ir- radiation treatment: these refrac- tory patients presented the typical symptoms of thyrotoxic disturb- ance (poisonous type of goiter).

Because these 100 patients ap- peared to have gland disturbance Dr. Hammer gave '10 of them x-ray treatments of the thyroid gland. "Considerable improvement and.
