MEETING AT DUNDAS.

Persuant to notice a political meeting was = li on Wednesday evening at Dan las Cart House. It was a decided success. The Court room was packed fu!l by an atten- tive audience who manifested their hearty ef the Liberal-Conservative policy. The meeting wa; called to order by appointing Mr. Lewis Ross to the chair, and the undersigned secretary. A. C. McDonald, ksq. ; the popular candi- late for King’s County was the first speaker. He thanked the electors for their past kindness at the last election, and showed up the policy of the Government which was a well-defined one. He also| showed clearly that if there was a depres- | sion in the country it was not owing to the | Nationa! Policy. He touched on the differ ent political topics of the day, and finished up by delivering one of the ablest speeches of this campaigo. He made a deep im- pression on the audience, and wascheered | euthuasticaily, indicating that the f majority of the electors were in union with him,
Dr. P. A. McIntyre was then called, upon and spoke forcibly for some time, speaking about the depression and the | exodus, ‘and showed up the platform of Liberal party. He touched on the Manitoba | School question and found fault with the | Government for not bringing out a con- cileatory measure to settle this muca | abused questi. Dr. Robertson spoke on the different topics of the day, and got a good hearing. He condemned the N. P., and the Liberal- Conservative platiorm, and the duty on cordage, depression among the farmers, and the exodus,

lhe Prevalence of Female Complaints found to Kesult Largely from the Kid- neys,
Sacixaw, Mich., May 18.—Doctors are beginning to turn their attention more ex clusively to the causes for the great in- crease Of what are known as female com- plaints during the past ten years, and to ihe remedies for the same. Many cases have been investigated, and among others that of Mrs. Reany, of Ashland, Wis., who was cured of this form of trouble by the use of a kidney medicine known as Dodd's Kidney Pills, which origiaated in Canada but has now ‘bec ome widely known and used throughout the Western States. This and other similar cases go to show that these troubles are largely due to the kid- neys and that the above mentioned remedy is likely to have a great effect in lessening the number of victims to this form of com plaint.

meeting closed with three roising cheers for Mr. Martin. Mr. Welsh’s followers were so dispirited that not a cheer could be raised for him.
A QUERY?
Mr. Laurier says in his lctter to Mr. Bertram with reference to the tariff which the Liberals would introduce :—
“It is also impossible to lay down even approximately what should be the rate of the tariff. It is quite certain that public expendnure ought to be and can be consid- erably reduced.”
The Montreal Gazette asks: Would expenditure be reduced by the increase of the Provincial subsidies, to which Mr. Laurier is pledged ?
