As you know the prices of five items went up .05 each at the Barn this week. Here are the reasons for these increases;

NO.I An increase in the min- imum wage of .20 per hour and a corresponding raise for the full and part - time staff.

NO.II Wholesale food price increases from 5 to 25% si- nce we opened in September. NO.III An increase of 22%

in the price of heating oil for the Barn, a portion of which the kitchen pays.

So, what we decided was to maintain a noneprofit, break even position was to raise the price of tea,coffee, pop, milk and french fries by .05 and keep the rest of the food and noon special prices the same. We regret having to do this but we have no control over these different increases we receive. 0n the other hand we will continue to serve the same quantity, quality and variety of food to you and welcome any cri- ticism as to how we could better the service to you. After all the Barn is for, run by and goes with the students.

The first meeting of the UPEI Student Council was set for Sun., Jan. 20/74. Council was supposed to di- scuss various points con- cerning student election, Winter Carnival, Year Book, mortgage extension, etc. However, since onle eight members of the council, namely; Bob Thompson, Mar- ion MacEachern, John Klub, Dave Smith, Irene McCardle, Joanne Ings, Margie Cain and Dianne MacDonald were present, we were found Without a quorum and were forced to postpone the meeting for a week.
