Lieut.-Governor Angers took the oath of office yesterday afternoon. The ceremony occurred in the L@gislative Council Cham- ber, and was oneof-the most brilliant ever witnessed here, the attendance being large and influential. After the ceremony a levee lasting an hour was held.

The Newfoundland Baii Bill. Lonpon, Oct. 30. Lord Salisbury has notified Mr. Wadding- ton, French Ambassador here, that royal sanction - will be givey’to the enforcement of the Newfoundland ait bill next season.

Market Prices.—-The offictal market _re- port of the Boston Chamber of Commerce, dated October 27, reports that during the week there has been.a steady fair demand for really “choice fresh eggs, with no material change in prices. Strictly extra Kasterm are scarce aml wanted at 24c; P. E. Tsland, N. S. and N. B. gelling generally at 214 to 2c. In potatoes there is a good supply, a large por- tion of which moves fairly at 60 to 70 cents per bushel. In’ fish. there is no material change to report.
