Several houses were blown from their founda- tions, sheds ware blown down, sidewalks torn up, and the fronts of houses blown oft. The lightning struck the Hudson Bay company’s storehouse, Winnipeg, and ripping up the root did damage to the extent ot $10,000. Iu Headingly the English church, was blown down, several houses moved off their foundations and grain stacks levelled to the ground and scattered over the prairie. Re- ports from other country districts show that the storm raged from Vermillion Bay on the east to Brandon on the west, but that the severity of the storm contered in Winnipeg, A great deal of grain was | iu some localities, but in others little or no damage was dove. The wind blew at such a territic rate as to blow streets cars off the track in Winnipeg. This is the tirst big storm in many years which has visited Manitoba. —_ —
