We find it of special interest that there are a few good newspapers repre- senting theeaverage work— ing man on P.E.I. The recent issue of the Broad Axe does a very good job of ex- plaining the position of the government of P.E.I. We at, the university are very much ‘aware of how easily a certain segment of theIsland commun- ity can get put down. Not a "few times, in the last few, years, has the student body here been discriminated again- st because of the fits of _ grandeur which King Campbell and his mouth piece Bennet have had. Maybe if the petty little family compact at the top of our Island government would take notice of what is happening in the world, they 'might realize what we want and what the Broad Axe is fighting for are not new things. Elswhere in the western world people are being given their rights: What time and place does Campbell think this is Germany in the late 30's? , Although the last election showed a high percentage of people believed in the policy

‘followed by the present gov- ernment, since than, public opinion has changed, as has t the policy of the government. From this we see many people changing their feelings to- 'wards the government. We can see a change'cpming, Either_ the present government will have to change it's policy and yield to the common will of the people or the people' will change the government. We suggest Messers Campbell and Bennett change their line .of thought to something a bit more contempary if for no other reason than it is Just. We would like to congrat- ulate the Broad Axe on putting out a good newspaper and tell- ing the people what is really happening. We urge everyone to subscribe to the Broad Axe so it can stay in print.

BULLSHIT IN THE "BARN"

On Wednesday, October 13th,

I arrived at the famed

"Barn" and as usual, every—

thing was quiet. Noting that Radio UPEI was not coming over the speakers,I

walked into the kitchen and

found the amplifier turned off. I immediately flicked the switch to "on" and turned the volume up two numbers, allowing music to comfortably reach my ears‘ and the ears of everyone else. About five minutes later the music was turned

down so that I had to strain

to hear it. Again I walked

into the kitchen and turned

it up saying to one of the

ladies (H-—--)that we could

hardly hear it. She, in turn, came over and turned

it down saying, with a less

polite tone, that it was too loud for her to take orders.

BULLSHIT!!!

In my opinion, it is music

that helps bring people to- ‘gether-—good louddelectrifing

music - not music that is so ldw

that it adds to the already existing apathetic boredom.

Which is more important: a unified student body or the wishes of an expensive catering service?After all it is a Student Center:

It's time the Student Union or Radio UPEI did something about this situation which

exists. What in hell is the use of having a Radio Stat-

ion with speakers in the barn when no one can hear what is being played or said. Those who pay for commercials are being

"ripped-off" since their

announcements do not get across to the people in the Coffee Shop.

I sincerely hope some- thing will be done to

clear up this Bullshit in the "BARN". I've tried!

This years editions of the CADRE approaches last years in quality, though the content has changed, it still has a long way to go to measure up to a university's paper. This rag is nothing but an incompetent piece of journalism. of coarse you are not tot- ally responsible since the U.P. E.I.S.U. has complete editorial control. If you print this I will give some suggestions on how to improve the paper next week.

COVENANT PLAYERS at the BARN LOUNGE

On Monday,0ct. 25, Inter varsity Christian Fellowb ship presented the Covenp ant Players, an acting group from Los Angeles, California.

Two guys and a girl acted out various skits with relevant themes of today,such as racial prejudice,lack of purpose in living,lack of brother- ly love in action which were presented in a humor- ous manner.

We had a good turn out of about 150 people. By the way Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship meets every Thurs. night at 9 p.m. upstairs in the Chaple. '
