A grand lottery for a gold watch took place here a few days ago. People taking advantage of the opportunity thus offered to procure so valuable an article, tickets were readily disposed of. All the ticket- holders being present at the drawing the excitement ran high, but as number twenty was drawn, Mr. John Masters smiling!y advanced with the corresponding ticket in hand, showing he was the fortunate winner.

While a man and wife were getting down Findley’s hill the horse kicked, sending the dashboard flying over the heads of the unfortunate couple, and smashed both shafts, leaving the mystified pair getting down the hill in a horseless car.
