A strong resolution respeciing the non enforcement of the Scott Act was unaoi- mously passed.

A resolution setting forth the disappoints ment of the Grand Division in the matter of the refusal of the Dominion Govern~ ment to carry out their promise to the temperance people of Canada was also passed,

A large public meeting was held in the evening in Summerfield Haj], the speakers being Past Grand Worthy Patriarch Kirpy, Rev. G. C. Robertson, H. Rack- bam, Tbomas Haslam and Walter Simp- An excellent musical and literary programme was rendered.

‘Lhe sessions for the current year wil be held as follows; January, at Freetown ; April, at Wiltthire; July, at Cavendish ; October, at Park Corner.

Mr. James Paton has receiced a hand some bronze medal from Philadelphia. The medal is a souveair of the [nterna- tiona) Trades Congress to which Mr, Paton was a delegate.

Hardy, late premier of Oaiario, has heen appointed Surrogate Clerk aud Clerk of Process at O good Hall. ‘Lhe office of Surrogate Clerk was formerly held by the late Hon. T.W. Anglio, and that of Clerk ‘of Process by the late Alex McDonell. Combined they are worth $3,400 o year.

Mr. Geo. C. Cook, who has gone into the commission business to Halifax under the name of ‘the Boston Trading Comyany,” is here soliciting trade. Mr. P. Wheeler. aged 92 years, left by cross-country irain yesterday for Cbar- lottetuwn, P. E I., where he will reside in future. One of the articles which he took with him was an old gun, which he values very much, it being given him by Com.oaoder Carr, of the surveying ship Guloare, years ago’ Althougk of such an age, the old gentleman is bale and hearty, end expressed a wish that he could go to the Tran+vaal to engage with the Boers. — Si.
