PASSES IN JOHANNESBURG- Mrs. H. J. Palmer has received the sad news from Johannesburg,- South Africa. of the sudden death on June 3rd of her neice Mrs. Derin"s Gayle nee Joyce Palmer Mrs. Gayle was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Jarvis Palmer. She leaves two little children, the youngest a. tiny infant. No further particulars have been received. Two years ago Mr. Palmer visited his home town after an absence of 30 years. He will have the sym- pathy of his many friends here in this his sad loss.

POLICE COUNT-At the Police Cour’. yesterday a young man charged with possession oi stolen goods was remanded until today. A vagrant was sent to jail for ten days. Two cases were heard invol- vng infringements of the traffic by-law. One defendant has fined one. dollar and costs or two dale m jail and the other two dollars and costs or three days in jail. A man charged with un awful possession of liquor was fined $25 and cost: n": 50 days in jail and a" l. c e .-\~ case. a woman defendant, was ad- adioilmed ilntil today. A man charged with common assault was sentenced to pay a $20 fine spend twenty days in jail. A drunk ivas fined ten dollars and costs or in lieu of payment sentenced to 2i» days in jail.
