Morell Amateur Night Proves Huge Success

A packed hall, and a one-hour- and-a-hali long entry list were the order of the day at the Mor- Memorial Hall on Wednesday night, for the ieatured Amateur Sliow...the "Sing. Say. or Do" contest that was really something very new in entertainment.

There were four classes. Jun- iors, 12 to 16 years old. 17 to 20. and adults, with the winner from each class returning to try ior the grand prize. Contestants totalled 27. Entries were mainly iiddling and step dancing, and some were outstanding. There were also two who played the mouth organ. a few singers. and some piano ent- ries. -Montague council Declares Nov. 9 Civic Holiday

November 9th. the day of the I royal visit to Prince Edward 15- land, was declared a civic holiday in Montague by the Town Coun- cil last night at the regular monthly meeting held in the Council Room. His Worship. May- or a. 11. yea! presided. Councillors present included, Nicholson. Mc- Gowan. Hessian, MacLeod. and Jamleson.

Following the reading of the minutes of the last meeting. and the disposing of general accounts. a lengthy discussion took place regarding the cuiverw in the town. It was fit that a previous minute hail bcgli misleading. and that the residents were under the impression that the town would replace all culverts. A motion was
