By the Imperial Act for punishing Mutiny and Desertion any person who shall by any means what- soever, directly or iudirectly, procure any Soldier to desert, or attempt to procure or persuade any Sol- dier to desert, oul any person who knowing that any Soldier is about to desert, shall aid or assist him in deserting, or knowing any soldier to be a deserter, shall conceal such deserter, or aid or as sist such Deserter in concealiug himself, or sid or assist in his resene, shall be Soo guilty of a Misdemeanor, and shall, on conviction thereof, be- fore any two justices of the peace acting for the County, District, City, Burgh or place where any such offence shall at any time happen to be, be liable to be committed ‘to the Common Jaol or House of Correction, there to be imprisoned, with or without hard labeur, for such term, not exceed- ing Six CaLenper Montus, as the convicting Jus- tices shall think fit.
