Tux Journal says, J. R. Etliot, Esq., of Elliot’s Station shipped a few days ago to J. A. Bruce & Sons, aan merchants of Hamilton, Ont., twenty-two bags of seed wheat to be ex perimente | with in above Province. A sap and fatal accident, which resulted in the death of Mr. William Farquharson, oc- eurred near Southport on Thursday afternoon, Mr, Farquharsen was in his barn, pulling fod- der for his cattle from a loft about twelve feet high, when he fell backward to the ground floor and received fatal iujuries. We are in- formed that the friends of Mr. Farquharson went to ownal and there consulted a phy. sician, who prescribed medicine for the relief of his injuries. After partaking of the medieme he found relief in a sleep from which he never awoke to con sciousness. Mr. Farquharson was a man about 66 years of age. We learn that a post mortem ¢Xaminat ion wil! be held on the body to-day. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Satz urday) afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Tue brigantine Hetty Ellen loaded by Hon. Wm. Kichards with oats, and which went "eeu off Indian Point on Sunday the 21st alt., was surveyed on Saturday last by Finlay MeNeill, ise., as Port Warden of Summerside Mr.-John Ramsay, Shipbuilder, and Captain Albert Grady. The surveyors have ordered that the cargo be taken ashore and stored im the meantime, after which another survey will be made. They have, however, been able to report that the vessel is considerably strained, and is making water. Part of the eats are wet although the pumps are safficient te keep the ship pretty dry.—S. /eurnal.

Negotiations between the powers in re- gard te the recall of the international fleet are expected to be shortly concluded, the question was raised whether it would be ad- visable to keep up in some form or other the fleet as a visible sign of the concert of the powers in regard to other pending ques- tions. But it does not seem to have met with much support and was immediately dropped.
