MONTREAL, Sept. l3 —(CP)__ There were 319 cattle, 530 calves, 1.390 hogs and 253 shee and lnmbs for sale on Montrea live- stock markets today, including 130 cattle held over.

Fresh arriviiils of cattle were practically all common to just plain cows and bulls, and these were sold at steady prices. A few good cows made $4.50 with med- ium kinds from $3.50 to $4. Com- mon butchers were $3 to $3.25 and canners and cutters $2 to$2.- 75. Commo bulls were from $2.- 50 to $3.25 with a few butcher bulls around $4.

Calves were steady. Good veals brought $9. Flair to medium kinds irom $0 to $8.50 and light veals down to $6. Drinkers ranged from $5 to $8 and grassers mostly $4.25 to $4.50, with very common light kinds down to $8.- 50

‘Good ewes and wethers were $8. Culls and bucks were out $2 2r cwt. Sheep were from $2.50 to

Bulk ol’ hogs were delivered on former contract. Fresh sales were slow at 9.75 for bacons fed and watered, with truck hogs selling up to $10. Selects drew $1 per hog premium, with the usual cuts on cit’ grades. Bows were from $750 to $8.50. Hogs sold on rail grade brought $13.50 dressed weight.

MONTREAL, Sept. 13 —(CP)\ Disturbing news from central Europe over the tenseness Czechoslovakia caused a sharp depression in the final hour trading on the stock exchange to- day. Losses ranged up to nearly eight points with volume triple the previous day.

Sharpest fall was 7 I-2 points registered by National Steel Car at 49. The same issue reached 59 _in the morning. Metals, equip- ments and most of the specialties felt the heaviest blows.

At the close futures were 1-2 lower to 1-8 cent higher Oct. at 61 1-2, Nov. 6I 3-8, Dec. 61 1-2- 5-8 and May 65 cents.

Fair demand in the cosh wheat resulted in a 1-2 cent improve- ment in No. 3 Northern spread at the close. Supplies of No. I, Northern available to buyers ap- peared negligible.
