Exclusive announcement is made by the Dally Mall that Major General Sir Wyndham Chiids, assistant commissioner, will retire along with Chief Commis- sloner Sir William Horwood. It al- most invariably happens that news anout Scotland Yard is “scooped" by one newspaper in advance of all official announcement. It will be one of the tasks of Lord Byng to bring secret relations between certain newspapers and certain of- flcials at Scotland Yard to an end.

The regular meeting of Summerslde Town Council place last night, Mayor Arnett presiding over a full council board. After routine accounts am- ounting to $8,671 were passed two communications were read from parties willing to purchase and op- crate the electric light and power plant and services. One offer was from Messrs Earl Schurman and F. A. Johnston, the other from Mr. Austin Scales. On motion of Coun- clllor Robinson both were received and laid on the table.

Mayor Arnett explained that the Council had been approached by the Maritime Electric Company, ‘rut at present there was nothing definite in the offer. When there was the matter would be placed before the citizens to instruct the Council. Brief reports of the var- ious committees were submitted ind approved.

A motion was passed authorizing the town clerk to inform the Tele- phone Company that the town would be willing to cancel their lease of the rooms in the Town Hall if the company vacated same by J nuary 1st, coining up on a mont ‘s notice given by them and the payment of a month's rent af- ter vacating the premises.
