In actuality things aren't as bad as they seem. Paper has gone up in price. Also, volume has a very definate role in this consideration. The higher the volume, espec~ ially on duplicate copies of the same sheet rather than different ones, the lower is the price. Rental is also paid on the Xerox machine and the Library buys the paper and the toner above the rental.

All is not lost. Negotiat— ions are presently being look— ed over for a package deal with the inclusion in the new library of a coin operat- ed duplicator at 5c a copy.

I was also.asked why there 'was no telephone in Duffy Building. Well, there are pub: lic telephones in the library, Bernadine Hall, and Marian Hall which are not far away. There used to be public tele— phones in Memorial Hall a a couple of years ago but they were ripped off the wall so many times they were complete— ly removed. I imagine that the University Administration feels that Duffy building which is open 24 hours a day, would probably lose its tele~ phones in the same way.
