Jul. 24 - The Environmental Coalition of PEl is having a GREEN FESTIVAL at the Macphail Homestead in OnNell from 10 am to 8 pm. A grand time for everyone: music, food, nature walks, children's stuff, workshops, etc. $5 admission with children under 12 free. Discounts for cyclists and pedestrians. Participants are encouraged to join bring their bicycle and join others cyclists heading for the Homestead. Meet at 126 Richmond Street at 9 am. Jul. 27 - Trailside Cafe in Mount Stewart will feature Dan McAskill providing an illustrated talk on raptors (hawks and owls) on the Hillsoborogh River. Starts at 7 pm.

Aug. 21 - "Exploring life on the shore". Digging for mud creatures and watching shorebird migration with Jim Jenkins and Linda Thomas. Meet at Covehead Bridge at 2 pm. Pre- register at 672-3293 (YN)

Aug. 28 or 29 - A slide presentation will be given at the Mooney's Pond Interpretive Centre by Bob and Jacob Harding in dragonflies, damselflies, and butterflies. Sept. 17 to 19 - The Nova Scotia Environmental Network will hold its fall gathering at the Dorje Denna Ling Retreat (5 km south of Tatamagouche). It will focus on the changing climate of the environment. Contact NSEN at 902-454-6846 for information.

Sept. 18 - the autumn leg of the North American Migration Count. Counts must be held on the day and must be contained within a county on the Island. Count results should be forwarded to Dan McAskill (see page 2).

Sept. 18 — Field trip to Greenwich with P.E.|. National Park's Nancy MacLauchlin. Meet at the Farm Centre parking lot at 1:00 pm or at the Greenwich Park entrance at 2:00 pm. Please pre-register at 629-1393.

Sept. 18 - Natural History Society pot luck barbeque at Michelle Johnston's and Ray MacDonald's overlooking Hardy's Pond on the Hardy Mill Road. Starts at 5:30 pm

Oct. 5 - Todd Dupuis will be the Society's guest speaker at the Natural History Society's meeting which starts at 7:30 pm at the Farm Centre on University Avenue. His presentation will focus on the "Community Achievements supported by the New Wildlife Conservation Fund".

Oct. 16 - Natural History Society field trip to the east of the Island with visits to Townshend Woodlot and the Naufrage River trail. Our leaders will be Mark Arsenault and Gerald MacDonald. Car pool from the Farm Centre at 8:30 am or meet at 10:00 am at Townshend Woodlot on the Souris Line Road. Please bring a lunch. Pre-register with Mark at 368-3315.
