Executive Reports

President-- Clare was in negotiations with CARI throughout the summer. She mentions that the new student union website which had been worked on all summer is now live. She announces the retirement of Norman Webster, who was Chancellor of the University for eight years and the learning/teaching centre will be named to honour him. She also attended the Founder's Day Ceremonies.

Executive VP-- Mark received infor- mation and promotional material in regards to the last Federal Election which he _ placed throughout Charlottetown (which were blue and looked like Conservative billboards). He worked on the development of a Student Survival Guide, which includes off campus information that should prove to be beneficial for stu- dents. He also was on the hiring board which filled many vacant positions with The Wave, with the Cadre, the Deputy Chair of Council, and of

course most importantly of all........ the Chair of Council.

VP Activities-- Pete gathered a list of contact names for all the clubs and societies and noted that there were three new societies that were being created. He announced that he will be looking for people for the social com- mittee. He announced that movie pubs will be every Monday at The Wave, showing pre-released films. Admission is $5 and it includes all you can eat popcorn and a slice of pizza (What a great deal...and what a great date idea). Wave membership cards are available for purchase at a cost of $30, get one and get some great bene- fits (Like a date with Pete Grandy himself).

VP Finance-- Britt had. no news to report....rock on Britt, rock on.

Reports Senate-- First senate meeting was held

on the 10th, enrollment numbers are up (approximately 3400 full-time and

roughly 600 part-time/mature stu- dents). International enrollment is up 30% with over 50 new international students. The English department underwent major change and intro- duced 21 new courses. Dean's Honours Night to be held October 14th and October 28th (for Nursing and Science) from 7-9pm at the W.A. Murphy Centre. The Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition proce- dures have been approved for a pilot project for the School of Business.

Board of Governors-- Residence proj- ect moving forward (Soon we'll be saying bye-bye to the Super Marion Brothers). Groundbreaking ceremony being held. Debt financing agreement has been made with the Bank.

MAPUS-- MAPUS welcome back socials with tea, coffee, and refresh- ments will be held on the 14th, 15th, and the 16th from 10am until 2pm.

Nursing-- Lindsay noted that a social was recently held for nursing students. Plans are being made to meet with

both the Dean and the President of the Nursing Society to discuss the up and coming year.

Business-- The Business Society has begun it's membership drive, join

Science-- Chemistry Society held a BBQ on the 10th and they encourage everyone, especially Ist and 2nd year students, to join.

AVC-- AVC Open House on Oct. 2nd from 10am until 2pm.

Arts-- Yearbook will be available in November.... just in time for Christmas, they make awesome stock- ing stuffers!!!
