Moulting is an exhaustive process, Hens rarely ever lay while moultilting, then help them to get their new plumage quickly. Many people get only five to six dozen eggs in a year from a hen, and loose money, when they ought to get three times that many and make money rapidly. How? There are about €00 eggs in the ovaries of a hen; get all you can of them in two years then killthe hen. You thus save two or three years feeding of the hen which is no small item if you buy all the food. When ahen is in “condition” says a poultry authority “she will lay pleanty of eggs.” Therefore help her through the moulting, that she may be in condition to lay during the winter.
