The UPEI Theatre Society is offering a workshop on backstage etiquette. It will be given by Donna Martin on Thursday, October 26 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. It is open to anyone who is interested in what goes on behind the scenes of stage produc- tions. For more information contact Terry Pratt, in the English department.

Because of Remembrance Day, pre- registration for 2nd Semester will begin on ‘Tuesday, November 14, not Monday, November 13 as stated in the Calendar. Pre-

egistration packages will be available prior to pre-registration.

Want to go to Peru?

From May 15-June 30, 30 students and 3 faculty advisors from across Canada will travel to Peru to participate in the 49th annual World University Service of Canada (WUSC) International seminar, and you could very well be one of them. The seminar provides Canadian university students with a first-hand introduction to various aspects of international develop- ment.

The seminar begins in May 1996 with an orientation in a Canadian city, then off to Peru where the participants will spend six weeks learning about a new culture and making new friends, while researching individually chosen topics pertaining to development. The working language alternates each year -- this year the working language will be French. It might not hurt if you also know a little Spanish, seeing as the seminar is in Peru.

So, if you can speak French, have a genuine interest in world development, and have a sense of adventure, this seminar is for you. Last year Jolyn Campbell travelled to Vietnam with WUSC, and it was the first time in several years that UPEI was repre- sented. Let’s start a tradition and make sure we are represented every year.

If your interest is sparked, you can come to Robertson Library, Room 109 on Thursday, October 26 from 3:00-3:30 for more information and to pick up an applica- tion.

The Provincial Chapter IODE Schol- arship

This award, based on academic performance and need, is presented annually towards tuition fees in the second semester to a deserving UPEI student entering second year who has been a resident of Prince Edward Island for at least five years. Application forms are available at the registrar’s office. Deadline for receipt of application is November 15, 1995.

Wingin’ It!, the angelic new musical starring Pamela Campbell, is scheduled for three fund-raising performances on the Island in November. During its premiere run this past summer, Carol Schneider of The Buzz called Wingin’ It! ‘‘a wonderful musical, with great characterization and catchy tunes -- the perfect showcase for Campbell’s qualities.’’

The UPEI Music Society will be hosting their annual Haunted House this year on October 31st from 8:00 pm to 12:00 am in Steele. Come to the Nursing entrance and begin the fright of your life. Admission is only $1.00 and all proceeds go towards the Music Society scholarship fund.

International Friendship was estab- lished in 1950 to promote international friendship and an understanding of different customs and way of life among the young people of the world through exchanging letters. It has no connection with any political party, religion or ideology.

Japanese students are very much interested in learning English through correspondence with foreign friends, and would like to know many things of your country. We wish to have a list of names and addresses of students who wish to have Japanese pen friend. We will immediately arrange for our Japanese members to send letters to their friend in your country. International Friendship Club

The Organizational Review Committee invites you to a public meeting in the Steel Recital Hall on Friday, October 27 1995, from 3:00 to 4:30 pm to discuss the possibility of changes in organization and administration on campus. This will be an information gathering session for the committee: we want to know what you see as the areas for change and restructur- ing. The Committee welcomes written comments at any time (sent to Chair, Organizational Review committee, c/o President’s Office). A reception in the Faculty Lounge will follow the session.

Background: The Organizational Committee was struck by Senate, in accordance with a recommendation in ‘Charting Our Future’’ and the Board/Senate Liaison Committee established its recommendation concerning all administrative functions and committees on campus; to establish an office of institutional research and planning.

Method and Timeline: Each committee member, in addition to discussing the whole organization, is reviewing a special unit:

Elizabeth Epperly: Finance, Administration, Business Office, Registrar’s Office, Personnel Cathy Gill: Board of Governors and committees

Wes MacAleer: Academic/Administrative Committee

Roberta MacDonald: Budget Committee

Shannon Murray: Deans and constituencies

Winston Pineau: Senate and committee

Andrew Tasker: Senate/Board Relations and the University Act

Unit reports are due by November 30th and the committee expects to report to the board and, where appropriate, to Senate, by mid January.
