May it please Your Honor,—We, Her Majeety’s loyal and dutiful subjects in General Assembly convened, thank Your Monor for the speech with which you have opened the Legislative Assembly, and congratulate you upon the honorable position of Her Majesty’s representative in this Province which Your Honor bas been chosen to fill.

We have juet cause for gratitude for prosperity and general improvements in trade during the past year.

We deplere with Your Honor the loss of the lives of some of some of our fei- low Canadians in the war against the Boers; but we are proud of the practical loyalty shown by our people, and we feel confident of the speedy and victorious termination of the war.

Our people throughout thie Province have shown by their contributions to the Patriotic Fund, their patriotism and de- votion to Crown and Country.

We are pleased to know that the con- struction of the Hillsborough railway and traffic bridge will be proceeded with im- mediately, and that the railway to Muar- ray Harbor is as:ured.

We are beppy to know that the cheese and butter industry has grown 680 rapidly, and that the reputation of our butter aad eheese is more than sustained, and the prices received satisfactory. The adoption of advanced methods in agriculture has greatly addedto our material pregress as a farming commupity.

Fruit-growing deserves the attention of our people, and we are pleased to know that advancement has been made during the past vear.

We appreciate the fact that a general Exhibition, open to the other Provinces, is to be held this year.

We shal] be pleased to provide ways and meaue for increased accommodation at the Falconwood Hospital for the Insa e. and we are glad to learn of the adoption of reforms and modern methods in that In stitu:ioo, We will be pleased to have the report of the Commissioners.

_ Therefore be it resolved that the Divi-~ sion record its deep sense of the great loss sus'ained by this Division, theGrand Divi- sion of Priace Edward Island and the cause of temperance geueraliy in the lamented death of brother Davison.

The deceased was one of the charter menbers of this Division, his name ap- pearing on tLe charter granted in Septem - ber, 1886 ; he proved bimeelf at all times

ance of kinduess and charity towards the euffering and needy. His memory will iong be cherished by his numerous friends and fellow-workers in tke field of tem~ pelance reform as weilas by the many whom he assisted and relieved in their trouble and distrees.
