present Messrs A McLean Sinclair, John Sutherland, Jobn Gillis, Adam Gunn, Malcolm Campbell, Db McLeod, Rode-

rick McLean, J W McKenzie, f F Fuliler-~ ton, Geo Millar, A W K Herdmao, G C Robertson, Jacob Layton, ministers, and Messers James McLeod, John J McLeod, Hector Murchison, Wm Mautcbh, Davia Small, elders.

Minutes of meeting held on the second day of Augnat were read and sustained.

Messrs F © Simpson, R A Finlayson, ministera, and Archibald Kennedy and T C James, elders, were invited to sit and correspond.

‘The clerk intimated that Mr G M Dill had placed in his hands the resignation of the pastoral charge of the congregation ip Summerside, that he bad cited the congre- gation to appear jfor interest, and that Mr Ciay was present asacommissioner. The resignation wasihen read, the commis sioner beard, and Mr. Dill’s adherence inti mated,

On motion resolved : —

To accept the resignation and to dis- sulve the pastoral tie, the same to take effect on and after this date.

Mr F C Simpson was appointed to de- clare the pulpit vacant on Sabbath first, and Mr Whidden to act as interim modera-~ tor of session.

Mr T C James presented the report of the committee appointed to allocate the amounts to be raised for the augmentation scheme by the congregations withiu the

hounds. On motion, the report, which is as fol'ows, was adopted :

A communication was read from the Home Mission Board anentthe appoint- ment of probationers on the list to vacant charges within the bounds, and the follow - ing motion was carried :

The following provisioual arrangements were made for Mr, Geggie’s induction, should he accept the call: The Moderator of session to arrange for the serving of the edict, and to preach and induct; Mr Joho Gillis to preach, Mr George Millar to address the minister, and the Moderator of Presbytery to address the people.

The Presbytery then adjourned, to meet at the call of the clerk.

Aw Istayper Ixsurep.—A St Stephen, N B., despatch says: By the premature explosion of a dynamite charge in the granite quarry at Red Beach, Me., on Saturday, F McCrae, of P E Island, had bis head badly injured. One eye was torn out. If no internal injuries were sustained t he doctors hope to save bis life. Heis about fifty years of age.

Vessets Missinc.—A St John’s Nfid., despatch says: Toree fishing vessels, homeward bound from Labrador, with crews aggregating 120 persons, are now much overdue. Since the recent gales the wreckage of a schooner has been found strewn all along the coast, and it is feared that she was one of the beluted vessels. Arrangements have been made to despatch a search steamer.

Burren Maker Arrestep.—J Hedley Andérson, ofthis city, was arrested yester~ day afternoon and taken toSummerside by the 4.10 train, on a aT. e of stealing 350 pounds of butter from Lot 16 factory. Anderson was arrested On @ warrant sworn out before Leonard Morris,J P,at Summer- side. Anderson, it appears, was employed iu the factory at ‘Lot 16 during the butter

making season. He comes up for irial this afternoon.

Miscarriace or J ustice.—A remarkabie miscurriage of justice has just occurred in in Rhode Island. A men attacked a young woman on a wharf last summer and practically threw her into the water, where she was drowned. Throngh a blunder there was no autopsy, and the state was unable to submit any proof of the canse of the girl’s death. A conviction for murder would have been probably, for manslaught- er certain, had the mere routine of exam- iuiog the ‘body being followed. Negligence prevented this, und the best the state could do was to indict the fellow for assault, and use his own admission as evidence. His sentence is Feven years.
