Tue Markets.—The market to-day was very small, with not much change in prices. Eggs brought 20 cents per dozen, and very scarce at that price. Butter was in small supply at 20 cents per lb. Hay sold at from 55 to 60 cents per 100 lbs. Beef, per carcase, sold at from 4 to 6 cents per lb, with the sup: ply fair, but the demand small. No change in other articles.

HeEakTLESs CrurLty.—A story of heartless cruetly comes from Calgary. Dr. Lovingheart has a number of men hauling coal from Knee- hill minee. The round trip oecupied 36 days and sufficient food was not sent with the men. The result was that the rations ran out.. A man named Boey became exhausted, and lagged behind the rest, The men had lived on oats and cccasionally game © Boey at last lell down on the trail and was found next morning dead, There is much indignatior against Lovingheart.

Deapv Bopy Founp — The body of an Indian belonging to Budro, Westmoreland Co., was found in the woods at Albert Mines one day last week. He had beeu out haunting and when found his gun was by his side and « litile dog that followed him was found ina halfs starved, famishing condition, having loitered by the decomposed remains of his master some of the Indian’s comrades, when they heard of the affair, came across from Budro aad took the remains nome for burial.—Mone- ton Times.

AnoTner Freak.—A-remarkable freak of nature has occurred at the farm of Mr. Docity Rictihrd, who lives at Predenhant, W. Co., N. B. An applé tree, set out by Mr. Richard last sprisg, has grown three crops of apples, the third and last yield being still on the tree and looking healthier than either of the former lota. 2The tree was set out in May and blossomed and brought forth frait. The apples grew to the size of birds eggs and were blown off sometime in June. In July the tree again blessomed and this time grew apples a size larger than the June crop. The third and last attempt to grow a goodesized hardy apple has been made by the tree. It blossomed in September and the product is still to be seen on the tree,
