it was good to hear the noise of the traxcavator scooping up the soil on the Brennan property in Summerside, shaping the nest, as it were, where the new high school is due to be hatched. The noise of these construction machines does not exactly resemble a sym- phony concert. but on this occa- sion it really was music in the ears of High School teachers pur- suing their duties In the building across the street, because it re- presented a new era to be usher- ed in next year in Summerside. With ample space, and improved faculties for better instruction. education in Summerside seems to be on the threshold oi a "Golden Age." with a proud record behind it of only two failures among over I25 pupils in, the last four years of entrance examinations, the high school is entering its new phasr of endeavour under auspicious circumstances.

Time out here to pay tribute to the memory of I very fine gentle- man. The recent psssing of the late Rev. W, A. Harper will leave his friends in Summerslde with I sense of real loss. You had to know "Bill" to appreciate his ca- pacity for radiating friendship to those around him. He spoke his gospel message from the pulpit as

The Evening Auxiliary of the .W.M.S. of Trinity United Church was held on Tuesday evening, Sept- ember Iath. Mrs. Harold Mllligan conducted the worship service. tak- ing for her theme, "Our High Calling." She was assisted by Mrs. Jock Hopkirk, Miss Mable Link- letter Ind Mrs. Eriand Ramsay. A very interesting film, "Indian Canoernen." was shown. The hymn "Break Thou The Broad of Life," was Iung. followed by prayer by Mrs. Eric Sheen. He said the church known as the First Methodist Church before the union in 1925 was commenced in 1854 and is the site of First Street where the present St. Paul's Hall stands. Five years later the Women's Missionary Soci- ety was organized. 1893 marked the year for the purchase of the property on which the present church stands and the following year the church was dedicated.
