In soccer, the Men's Panthers contin- ued their winless streak with a tie on Sunday Oct 17th versus the UNB Reds. The men scored on a last minute goal by Robbie Aiken, who was shifted from his position as full- back in order to further press on an impenetrable Reds defense that had defeated UPEI 2 weekends previous. The men, although determined to get their revenge, were unable to con- quer UNB but in this game showed

that they were capable of showing a-

lot of heart despite trailing in the second half in poor conditions.

The men are currently 4-2-3. Heading into their next game versus

On the women's side, the Panthers continued their hot streak, defeating the Reds 2-0 in a triumphant shutout victory. After the first half ended scoreless, the Panthers’ Janelle Blanchard and Meredith Cameron scored to seal the victory after the Panther defense held the Reds to a mere two shots on goal while man- aging twelve of their own.

The women, 7-1-2, sealed a playoff

berth with the win, and play their final game of the season on the 30th against Dat.

record at the UNB tournament, they

were more than ready for the first league game against Memorial, which would unfortunately come to a close 3-2 loss. Panthers rookie Barb Vriends drilled 16 kills past the opposition and Rebecca Gallant collect- ed 6 digs and 2 aces in the losing effort. .

The women played Memorial again on Sunday, however details were not available at press time.

Ashley MacDonald of the Women's Rugby Panthers recently earned the prestigious athlete of the week award in Atlantic University Sport, for the week ending Oct 17th. Having scored 10 points in a 15-11 Panther comeback win against St. FX, Ashley gave the women a shot at first place and a spot in the playoffs. It was a huge game for the rising star, a lst year science student and rugby MVP from Charlottetown Rural, who currently sits third in league scoring with a whopping 26 points.

Her 10 points came by way of a penalty kick, a try, and a conversion.
