Household Hints.

Vo Wast a Flannel Skirt.—A flannel skirt, ea broidered with blue (or other colors). to et the color, should be soaked for ten & in. utes in a patil of cold water containing a teas spoontul of sugar of ieod. Then wash tt in tepid water made soft with borax. U se Ver) little soap; iti ardens the wool. Rinse weil, and hang where it will dry quickly,

Chicken Pie.—-Cut up a large chicken; if itis tough parboil it. Piace your crust ln @ deep, well buttered pudding dish, then a layer of thin salt pork, and on that a layer of chicken; pepper it; chop up two or three hard boiled eggs, and sprinkle some over the chicken; then more pork, chicken, and egg, until the chicken and haif pound of pork is useiup; pourin esough of the water ip which it was parboiled to make a gravy, cover with a crusl; ornament it ce iittle: bake ap hour, or longer if the pie is very large.

Mince Meat.—Two pounds of fresh bul- lock’s tongue boiled, or two pounds of lean roast beef, one pound of beef suet, two pounds of stoned raisins, two of washed and aried currants, one pound of candied cit- ron; mince all these separately, then mix them well together, and add to them two pounds of sugar, grated rind of four lemons, an ounce of alispice, half an ounce of cinna mon, half an ounce of cloves, one ounce nut- megs, all ihe spices ground ; half an ouncé@ salt, apd one teaspoonful black pepper, three pints brandy, one pint sherry, mix well all together and put in covered jars
