MEETING AT CAVENDISH,

of discussing harbor improvements and was organized by appointing C, F, Simpson to the chair and the undersigned secretary. Arthur Simpson was first to address the meeting. He spoke of the very bad con dition of our harbor at present; of the difficulties we have in getting our produce shipped off, and the failure of our generally. He argued that the distruction of our breakwater and the consequent fill ing up of the channel was the cause of this state of things, and said that as we were 50 far from the railway that itwas but a matter of justice to us that our harbor should be made as good as possible. He ut ncluded by moving the following resolution

That it is of this meeting that the Federal Government should at once send a competent engineer to examine the harbor and report to the Depart- ment of Public Werks, and that the work of extending the breakwater should be proceeded with as soon as possible.

structed in time to benefit our harbor for our

next season's trade, the Dominion Government be requested to send the dredge, next spring,

lt was then ordered that the Chairman and Secretary send copies of the resolutions adepted at the meeting to the Department

of Public Works, to our represent: atives at Ottawa, and to other parties who they might consider would exert an influence

towards the granting of our requests. It was also ordered that areport of the imeet- ing be published in the Charlottetown papers.

After a vote of thanks to the Chairman, the meeting adjourned.
