Orrawa, Nov. 13.

Dr. Montague, the Conservative candi- Cate, was elected in Haldimand on Satur- day, his majority being seventeen over the Grit candidate, Mr. Colter. The Grits made a supreme effort to redeem the County. The leading lights of Ontario and even Mr. Laurlor “hineclf stumped the County, whereas Dr. Montague fought the battle almost single handed. Haldimand never elected a~Conservative before this year; and under all-the circumstances the victory is regarded as one of the greatest triumphs ever scored by any party in Canada.

FIGHTING IN LONDON,

Lonpon, Nov. 13,

The scene in Trafalgar Square to-day was not equalled since 1866, when the people, asserting the right to public meet- ings, destroyed the railings around Hyde Park. Four thousand policemen took pos- session of the approaches to the Square early to-day. They had been on the ground a short time, when various socities of Socialists, Radicals and Irish approached from every direction, headed by bands, carrying banners. The pclioe attacked and dispersed each group as it arrived. A fierce fight took place in the Strand and Northemberland Avenue, White Pall, Pall Mall and other adjacent streets. One so- ciety succeeded in entering the Square, but were repulsed after a bloody fight in which Commissioner Graham was _ seriously injured. Graham was subsequently arrested for attacking the police. At 4.30 p. m., the people in the vicinity of the Square numbered 100,000, and the police were powerless to disperse them, so cavalry and infantry were sum- moned to the assistance of the police. The people began to disperse about dusk. About 200 citizens and 40 pulicemen were injured, and fifty persons were arrested.

Judgment in Favor of the Dominion Government.

A telegram from Winnipeg states that the Dominion Government injunction suits were argued to-day, and that judgment was given by Judge Killam in favor of the Dominion Government on all points raised.

Trouble Among Miners.

LyncHuevre, Nov, 13.

Trouble exists at the mines near Pochon- tas, Tasewell County. The miners of American birth, white and colored, de- manded that the Hungarian miners be sent away. The company refused, and yester- day the Hungarians were prevented from entering the mines, after a bloody encoun- ter with the native workers. Work in the mines is suspended. Several men on each side were severely hurt in the affray. The local authorities have sworn in a large force of deputy constables and intend to preserve peace at all haszards.

Anarchists Dead and Buried.

Cureaca, Nov. 13.

The final obsequies over the five dead Anarchists was observed to-day. The pro- cession was over one mile long, which escorted the remains tothe deport. Every- thing was orderly. The three trains, making a total of forty cars, was packed to suffocation, which bore the remains and friends to the cemetery, on the outskirts of the eity. The remains were temporarily placed in a vault,

On Saturday evening Mr. McKenna gave his third and final exhibition at the Old London Billiard Hall. Mr. McKenna, who has during his stay in this city, been suffer- ing from a very severe cold, did not appear to as good advantage as he otherwise would have done, nevertheless his several per-

formances here haye placed him, i the minds of those who witnessed the masterly manner in which he handled

the cue and the perfect control he had over the balls as a player of the first rank, and fully entitled to the high and | coveted position to which he lays claim, | that of champion strajght-line player of the world. Those whv did not see Mr. Mc- Kenna play will always regret it, as such an exhibition may never be given agaiu. Mr. McKenna, after having defeated his opponent in straight play, commenced the baylk-line game against his oppanent's straight play, the game consist- ing of 250 points, and when the game was called the score stood 250 to 34. After the game he gave his usual exhibi- tion of fancy shots. It was then that the excitement was at its highest pitch, and applause after applause greeted the cham- pion as each shot was made.

(a) For what amount the work will be con- atructed, to be owned by the City, the offers to be made in accordance with conditions as to secur- ity and otherwise contained in forms of Proposal and the Specifications and Plans to be seen at the Office of the Water Commissioners for the City of Charlottetown. Prince Edward Island, or at the oftice of their Engineer, M. M, Tidd, Esq.. 10 Tremont Street. Boston, Mass., after the 7th instant, for the cast iron pipes and pipe laying; and after the l4th instant for the balance of the specifications and plans, which will include Res- ervoirs, Gates and Hydrants, excepting those for the pumping station, which will be ready on the 25th instant. Builders muy offer for the whole work, or for the separate paris indicated in the forms of Proposal, but those offering for the whole work will be required to fill up and sign each of the said forms; or

(4) Mor what annual subsidy a private company will supply the said City for fire purposes and for watering the streets with eighty frost-proof hydrants, having a pressure sufficient to throw water toa height of at least sixty feet in eve part of the City, and the annual rate for eac additional hydrant which the said City may from time to time require; as also the maximum annual rate per faucet at which the company will supply water to c:tizens for private use, eac tender to expressly stipulatc that the water will be taken from the sources, and the whole work be done according to the specifications and plans referred to in paragraph (a); or
