Sorrow, sincere and heartfelt, pervades many homes in this city, to-day, on ac: count of the sudden death of Mrs. George D. Longworth, whose spirit pasced away last evening. The deceased lady walked down town yesterday forenoon. About noon she called at the office of the Mana ger of the Bank of Nova Scotia, said that she ielt very tired, snd asked to be allowed to rest for a few minutes. Overtures have been made by Frerch and German applicarts for this concesssion but the grant is in- tended, it is declared, ae a practical proof of the Czar’s desire to stand well with Great Britain.

OBITUARY.

At Peake’s Station, on April 8th, Ron- ald A. McDonaid quietly departed this life in the fifty~recond year of his age. The deceased was in hie usual good heaith until about five weeks previous to his death, when be wes euddenly stricken down by asevere illnese, which proved fatal, despite all the aid that melical sk1!] could r u’er.
