Yet those who know‘ most about; blindness and. deafness from having mingled wlth those who are blind or deaf tell us that the deaf are really more deserving of our sympathy than are the blind.

It 1s gratifying to know then that there ls the National Society for the Hard of Hearing with headquarters ‘in Washington D. C.. and branches m cities of the United States and Catiada, and alto the National In—, stitule for the Deaf in London, England.

The secretary of this Natlonal, Institute for the Deaf, A. J. Storm! states, "that an enquiry should be, made into the psychological (mental) , contrast between the deaf and the. blind. Lifelong association with the dent’, as children and adults, tn- cluding tlventy-nltte years with the? blind of all ages ha". led me to know
