The October meeting of the New Glasgow Women’s Institute as held at the home of Mrs. R. W. and-Anna Stevenson. The President presided. Nine mem- bers answered roll call by pass-

ing in an article for a “grab bag,” there were two visitors present.

The music teacher committee reported engaging Mrs. Hall of Hunter River to teach music in the school.

Discussion followed on ways and means of making money. ‘Several suggestions were made and it was decided to send around a@ “travelling basket” again. Mrs. Ray Dickieson is to prepare and start the basket, and have it completed before the November meeting.

Sick and _ school - committees gave their reports. Roll call for mext month will be a get-well card or the money to buy one, also a verse or’ quotation on “Peace.” ~New- committees for next month are: sick, Mrs. Harold! Dickieson and Mrs. Earl Hous-

Miss Elsie Laird. Mrs. Jay Ed- wards invited the members to meet with ‘her for the November meeting. ,

Letters were read from the hos- pital bazaar committee and t he cancer campaign. It was de. cided to ask the older girls to do the collecting. There was also a letter read about the program on OCJRW every Thursday morn- ing at 11 a.m. The orphahage col- lection was passed in.

The grab box was then intro- duced and caused much fun, also a goodly sum was realized.

to 7 p.m. we entertain dozens of guests. Yet this room. never seems crowded and the service is never rushed!”

I relaxed to such an extent that I forgot to take notes!

OTHER THOUGHTS

Who could think of business in an atmosphere reminiscent of an old English drawing room with oriental rugs, lounge chairs, pain’- ings and soft candlelight reflect- ing the formal tea table in a giant mirror.

Add % c. of flour, 4 large eggs, beaten thick and fluffy, % tsp. each rose and almond extract and % tsp. ground nutmeg. Last, beat in remaining sifted flour.

Beat at least 100 strokes to in- sure fine grain. If using mixer do not overbeat.)

crumbs.

Let stand 10 min. more to set crumbs so covering will not break while cooking.

Saute 8 to 12 min. according to thickness, in enough corn oil to barely cover bottom of pan.
