September wheat closed in Vnieigo at 858, on the 11th the price was 923, 2 the 13th, 944, on the 14th 98, and on Saturday the 15th closed at 1043. Yesterday September wheat reached 110, a clear advanne of over 20 cents a bushel in less then ten days. The movement v-hich was at first speculative and accelerated by the advance of wheat in Rogland and caused by more unfavorable crop “ew io England and on the continent.

These paragraphs are stolen from a copied article in Our Society of June 12, 1891. I do not accuse the editor

of the Guardian of plagiarism, but the manner in which these paragraphs are arranged so as to appear original, leads me to believe that they must have been done by none other than the paraphraser of Burke, Surely, however, the editor of the Guardian will not expect us to believe that his article

A Royal Reception.

The French squadron met with a magni- ficent reception at Portsmouth yesterday morning. The Admiral and seventeen of- ficers landed and were conveyed in royal carriages to Osborne Place, where they were received by Queen Victoria, the Duke of Connaught, and Princesses Louise and Beatrice and a number of nobles attached to the court. The Queen expressed her great gratification at the visit and hoped their stay in England would be enjey- able.
