Lobster Fisherman Start Day Earlier

”rhe lobster season gets under wny a day earlier this year so fishermen are being permitted to run lines and traps on the last. day oi April. although they are

til the nrst day of May. This is a change in the ruling which in the past called for line running on the first day oi May, the oflicial open- ing day.

Another change noted this year is that oi the method oi measur- ing the lobsters. The inrmer nie- thod of seven inches overall length for csnners has been changed to 2?. inches carapace measure from the eye socket to the back of the body shell. Actually this does not involve a great difierence in the overall length. and if anything makes it a little shorter.

All along the east. coast. of the Island and the North Shore fish- ermen are making last. minute preparations for line running day on April 30th. New traps, rope and newly painted hosts dot the shore- line as fishermen make ready to move to their base of operations. several boats from Montague and Lower Montague are moving to Launching and North Shore. while others will be fishing out of Georgetown , and landing their

Urge Belier Training For P. E. I. Teachers

The Montague Home and school Assmiation went on record last evening as favoring the raising of teacher training standards in a resolution passed at a meeting held at the High School. Dr. G. 8. A. Inman presided. the reading or correspondence re- iorring to the possible proposed lowering or training standards ior teachers. It was the feeling or the meeting that even "resent stand- ards should be raised to the better-

"be It further resolved that the minister of Education be urged to consider the advisability or rais- ing the present stsndsrds."
