Hivosos Bay Exreprrion.—The Truro Sur believes it is the intention of the de- partment of marine and fisheries to fit out the new steamer Lansdowne for the Hudson Bay expedition of this year. The Lans- downe will sail early from Halifax, will visit the stations where the observers were left last season, and will continue the explorations already commenced. Lieut. Gordon will likely again command the expedition. }

Caakcep with Lanceny.—A young man named Wm. D. Sullivan was arrested late om Thorsday night on suspicion of stealing a pocket book containing $30 in money, a ticket to Boston and other papers from Joseph McCormack, a P. E. Islander. The theft is alleged to have taken place in a house on Pond street. The prisoner was arraigned yesterday and remanded until to- day, when before the Magistrate, Sullivan protested his innocence of against him.—St. John Telegraph.

Lonpon, March 1. Ths Standard, commenting on the small majority by which the Government escaped a vote of censure, says that the Cabinet is bankrupt in influence, and that Gladstone has received a severe lesson. RESIGNATION AND DISSOLUTION. Lonpon, March 1.
The Press states that the Cabinet council, held yesterday evening, was occupied solely with the discussion of the expediency of resigning. It was argued that the small- ness of the majority was due to the action of the Parnellites ; that it would be pos- sible and easy to continue the government with the present House of Commons, and that it was needless to resign. There seems little doubt that the Cabinet council has decided upon dissolving Parliament, soon after the passage of the Redistribution Bill,
