Those rocms in cold weather are extremely cold. There are _ heaters in each room, but on tue celdest day in winter the heat does not reach

the rooms. It is a common occurrence when atiendants are washing up those guarded room floors to seethe water freeze on them instead of drying as they would if the place was not extremely cold. The heaters seem to be oat of ord er as the heat does not reach the rooms, aod it has been so for many years. There are some patients who have beec confined in those cold rooms and whose tears and cries for heat was heartrending to see anj listeo to. But the same stace of aftaire exists, and that is not all. A large number of the other bed. rooms are cold, as the windows seem to be out of repair. There is such open epace about the sashes as to allow wind and storm to blow on the patients at night; often causing them to take severe colds and colds in their heads as their beds are near those windows and cannot be avoided. It

In regard to cleanliness the bisement was in a most filthy and sickening condition for monthe, there being a swarm of use: leas and dirty catewhich serve to collect filth and cffeusive smell. Such is the cea- dition of tbeasylum Auyone visiting or passing through the building would observe cleanliness in the wards as the attendants take pride in keeping that part lookiog well.
