As the engine backed up, the horse took fright and backed the wagon against the train. The resuit wasthat the car upset them and only that they were pitched against the wheels and car-truck, they would undoub‘edly have been killed Had they fallen between the two car-trucks, they would have been pitched between the car and would have been crushed to death.
