Shea to go on his knees—he did so, when each ofthem ﬁred into his body. Shea never spoke a word after the shots. Not content With shooting the man, they then broke his head to pieces with the bt ts of their arms. This appears tohare been one of th most daring ’ murders that has taken place for years,and no doubt but all the neighbours must have known but that this man was to be murdered. There is a forge within ﬁfteen yardsofthe public house, in which there were seven men when the murder was committed, and the man of the public house, named Ryan, was at home and his family, yet not one person assisted or would give evi. dence as to which way the murderers went There is also a police-barrack within 250 yards of Ryan’s house. and although the police were instantly on the spot, yet no clue is yet discovered ofthose follows. It is said that this man was to give evidence against some per- sons at the next assizes, and who are now in gaol, and that this has caused 'his tlenth.—Clonmcl paper.

All chance ofthe return of Captain Ross, or ofthe crew of his vessel, is. it is to be feared, at an end. The last authentic news ofhim was in lat. 57. N., 25th July, 1399. For the ﬁrst time since 1813, the heartless widow of Napoleon has corresponded with her mother—the Hecuba as she is called in the French papers, of the ﬁrst revolution, and who has already outlived thc once-promising Impe- rial dynasty. The letter, which was written upon the occasion of the death of the Duke of “enlistadt, is as follows :o- .

On sun- day, the 22nd, at five o’clock in the morning, my dear Son, the Duke of Reichstadt cXpircd after a much protracted and painful suffering; [have had the consolation of being near him in his last moments, and ofknowing that no- thing was left undone to preserve his life; but all the resourcps of art failed against a com- plaint of the’chcst, which his physicians from the beginning unanimously announced to be of so dangerous :1 nature, that it must have hurri- ed my unfortunate son to the grave, and at an age too when he was given the very best pro- mises. God has disposed of him, and it only remains to us to bow before his supreme wil , to reconcile ourselves to our loss, and endea- vour to dry our tears.

B. Lynch, late a teacher in the Hibernian Society School. has been arrested at Corkagui- ny, county Kerry, for conspiring to resist the payment ot‘tithes. The tithe valuators in the parish of Killincy, were assaulted by the coun- try people, and the cows in the parish of Kilo gobbin, of which the Rev. E. Day is Rector, are branded with the word “Titties.” The va- luators of the Rev. A. M‘lntosh, in the parish of Dunurlin, were severely beaten on Monday.

The Hay to he Upland, Interval, or Dyked Marsh, sweet and good, either Timmhy or Clo— ver, or a mixture ofboth——and to have been cut at least three months previous to delivery to the Troops.

The Oats to be ofa sweet, clean, and whole- some quality. and not to weigh less than Thirty- four Pounds per Bushel.

The following substitutions will be allowed . in the case of sick llorscs, viz :——one pound of Barley or 3—8 ofa pound of Malt, or 1—3 ofa pound of Oatmeal, or 1—11 pound of Bran, in lieu ot'one pound oants; it being understood that such substitution shall be limited to l l—2lb. ofoats daily, for each sick horse.

The Straw to be either Oaten or Barley, and ofa dry and proper quality.

The Contractor will issue the Forage to the troops from his Depot (which is to be. near the Barracks), on orders received from the Commis- sariat, to the Departments and Regiments three days in the week", to such Ofﬁcers as may require it to be issued at those periods.

It will be required from the Contractor to have in his Depots, at all times, at least two months’ supply of Forage of each description and that his Depots shall at all times be open to the inspection of the Commissariat, whenever it may be thought proper to visit them.

The Tenders to express the rates in Sterling Money pcr Ration, and to be made separately for each place stated above, accompanied by a letter from two persons of known property, engaging to become bound with the party ten. daring, in the sum which will be made known on application at this Office, as well as all other particulars which may be considered necessa- ry to the Persons tendering for the supply.

Payment will be made every two months on regular vouchers (Forms of which can be ob. tained at this Otl‘we),inBills of Exchange on the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty’s Treasury, at the rate of 1001. for every Hill. 10:. due up- on the Contract at Halifax. The Forage sup- plies at P. E. Island and Cape Breton will be paid for in Cash, on regular vouchers as before stated.
