ANNOUNCEMENTS

CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT: Yes, that time is rolling around. The count period will probably be from Dec. 17 through Jan. lst. We hope the former birders will be back on the job along with some new ones.

STRAWBERRIES RIPENING IN UPPER MONTAGUE. John Wright reported that he has some strawberries in his garden. They are on plants set out last spring. The blossoms were kept picked off during the summer,

but some that were missed are producing ripe fruit now in late October.

BONSHAW HILLS TRAIL GETS PARTIAL CLEAN-UP. On Sunday afternoon, Oct.9,

a crew of three NHS members and Bob Perry went from Appin Road to Bolger Road and tidied it up considerably. A problem of rerouting has cropped up at Appin Road where a new house on one side of Appin Road and a mobile home on the other side are set precisely on the trail.

ERRATA. In our October newsletter (No. 25) we erroneously reported in 'Finding the Parasitic Dodder" that Common Dodder (Cuscuta qronovii) was not included in any of the plant species lists prepared for P.E.I.

In fact, David Erskine (1960) reports it in The Plants of Prince Edward Island as occurring at Plat River near Summerside and in Pleasant View- on the west coast of the Island. Our thanks are extended to Bruce MacLaren who brought this error to our attention.
