“ir,—A boarder at the Davies Hotel was attacked with scarletina or scarlet fever last week. The boarders at the hotel naturally became alarmed as soon as it beeome known, and there was likely to be a stampede. This difficulty was over- come by the removal of the patient from the Davies Hotel to the boarding department of the City Hospital. {t is alleged the orders of Dr Conroy, who i2 the medical maw in charge of the hos- pital. The patient was taken down to the City Hospital! under charge of Dr Warbur- ton.
There is no hospital fur contagious or infectious diseases in the city. I think it
| was an outrage totake this patient from one
boarding house to another. If he had been put in one of the sick wards of the City Hespitals there would not have been so much cause for complaint; but he has been put into the boarding house part of the hospital with a well farnished bed room, right in the midst of the boarders,
Of course there was a panic among the boarders. 1 was glad to take a young lady fz.end into my house who was board- ing there.
My object in writing is to call the at- tention of the Board of Health to the mat-
ter. If we have no infectious disease hospital surely there ought to be some regulations to meet
acase of this kind. I forbear from mak- ing any further remarks on the action of the medical men in this matter until it is sifted. Meantime the lady boarders in the City Hospital are isolated, and residents in the neighborhood having families, are in a state of alarm lest the “scarlet fever” be brought into their houses.
