Following "the devotional rer- vloe. conducted by Mrs. liay Ken- nedy and Mrs. Helen Jones. the roll call and minutes of the previ- -ous meeting was read by the sec- ‘retary. this was followed by a brief' business meeting with the president in the chair.

The officers were elected for the corningyear and are as fol- 1ow.s:‘President. Mrs. Earl Tay- lor: t*reesur..., - Mrs. William Henry; secretary. Miss Dorothy Keefe.

The meeting then. adjourned, after which a delightful One-Act Play was presentadby tire "Siloki" group of the W.A., followed by rat. hments. The following is a description ofthe play with its cast: “After the Church Supprrlj Scene: Living room of Mrs. Howard: home.

Time: November evening around vnine o'clock. ,

Six ladies, members of the Ladies’ Church Guild, meet at the home of Mrs. Howard. on at- tractive young widow, to discuss the annual church supper which has Just taken place that evening in the parish hall. Evidently it has been a good success until the women get. together and begin to criticize each other's cooking for the supper. The play ends with ‘Mrs. Howard deciding to run fut- ure church suppers herself so that everything will be perfect. The cast was as follows: a‘ Mrs. Esther Howard. president of the Church Guild, Mrs. Mar- garet McKinnon.

'I‘he'modern woman has changed all that. The middle-aged woinu of today looks younger than her husband, even when they are In proximately the same age. Also, she is peppier. She is the one was wants to go places and do things and who drugs him out to places at amusement and on trips. And she belongs to study clubs and current events classes. and she is up on her politics, and hasn't the siighteel idea of settling dowr‘ to senllity for the next twenty years. _

But if men have the advantage of women in youth’, age is Held to women than it is to man. No old woman is as forlorn and lonely as an old man. Somehow the old woman can take care of herself bet- ter. She can make more of a home for herself if she has to live ale and if she has to live with others she fits in better than the old rd: does. And somehow people are tenderer and kinder to the old woman than they are to the old man.

The man who is too old to be in business or to follow his old can cupntion is lost. He is bored to death. He does not know how to Ill time. But the old woman has her crony or two; she can snake patella work quilts or crochet or knit: she can take care of her children's oh dren and keep her heart warm with their devotion, for so often

Sales Manager of Carter & Corn- pany. left this morning for Mon- treal where he will attend the annual Toy Fair which in to be held in the Mount Royal Hotel from Feb. 27 to March 3. Dur- ing his stay ln‘Mont.real Mr. Claw will be registered at The Latin- tian Hotel and will visit several firms which he has had business connection with for the part ntnnber of years. Mr. Clow ex- pects to be absent from the pro- vince until the'latter part of next week .
