LAMENT FOR THE SOUL

I would like to run up to you and shout ' I love you,‘

But I can't because

It would be unethical

I would like to kneel in morning grass and praise a God that does not require hymns and doxologies with words I do not understand,

But I can't because

It would be sacreligious

I would like to run barefoot through endless sands and

grassy hills, and throw my face up to the sun

But I can't because It would be insane

I would like to live my own way and not bother about the rules society makes up to protect themselves from themselves

But I can't because

It would be illegal

I would like to roam through meadows of grass and pick daisies hand in hand naked with you

But I can't because:

It would be immoral

And so I stay in my own little

shell, quite ethical, quite religious, -quite sane, quite legal and

cramping my soul because

of a decree of society's that

to be myself would be wrong.

ALONE YET NOT ALONE .Here I sit and weep in my I outcast state My mind is full of anguish ' death and fate. I need a woman to hold me ' to her breast, To: console my mind and _ and bring me rest. But I am alone. I In tembling hands I hold my head And curse the gods and 'envy the dead. Then from way back, I think of an old friend! »Yes I remember, she told me her sad sad story So I gave her words of courage y‘and said-"Don't worry"

And now I picture her smiling face beaming with hope.

I THE CAT

Fencing

Since the last issue of the Cadre came out. the times for the fencing club have been changed to the follow- ing: , Tues 5:00 - 6:30 pm Thurs 5:30 - 6:30 pm

For the week of October 11 through the 17th. the boys of the choir were fairly quiet. Monday night at Gentleman Jim's. a few of the boys whoopedgit up with the one girl present. A good time was had

by all. Whoopee!

. A period of res mediately, for two days. The high- lights of this midweek period were the pool on the baseball game, and watching the Maestro play hockey.

Wayne (Crash) Classon was the winner of the pool, raking in the grand total of three dollars. Another satisfied customer. ?It pays to deal with honest Bob and Mel," said Crash ecstatically. The weekend commenced on Thurs- day with the weekly Pig and Whistle. The boys were more or less specta- tors, and were obviously saving them- selves for their command performance the next night at Monty's extravagan- za. Thursday was also highlighted by Chukker's triumphant return to the gold-r en corridors of Memorial Hall. Return- ing with his usual grin and twinkle in his eye, he unveiled his prize Massachu- ssetts license plate which reads "C H U C K," and was forced to melt for the remainder of the night. On Friday, the choir performed at the Monty bash. They accompanied Hedges' highland fling with commends;

’ ble zest and gusto. Jack O'Brien flung out a challenge to a chair dancing con- test. and was immediately taken up on« it by Archie (who was in the process of "tieing one on!"). Archie was the victor by a leg. ending Jack's victory string

at one.

The Melt of the Week was pulled by Bob (Sidewinder) McIlhone, who the Judge awarded a score of 8.7 (out of 10) for his valiant attempt to clean the floor at Monty while dancing on his back. He was informed of his award when he came in the next morning at eight. "Ohhhh," said Sidewinder. Following this was a well deserved period of recuperation.

The Shrewd Businessman of the Week Award gees to Bob Hunter for his pur- chase of a beautiful 196“ Pontiac with a mere 99,000 miles on it. In the im- mortal words of P.T. Barnum. “There's a sucker born every minute.“
