He Sold His Wife.

The people of South Egremont, Mass., are threatening to tar and feather Rich- ard Winchell, who has disposed of his wife at private sale. The Winchell family consists of three _ brothers. One of them is now serving a seven years sentence in State prison for man- slaughter. William and Richard, the two others, have bornea hard reputa- tion. Richard hada pretty wife, who had not much strength of character. William has long admired her, and on Tuesday he asked his brother what he would sell her for. Richard told him he could have her for $3. The Offer was accepted and a receipt was given for the money. William then hired a sleigh, and driving to his brother's house took his purc hased bride to the station, where the pair took the cars for Albany.
