With all types of automatic heating equipment the brain of the system is the thermostat. Its pro- per location has a great bearing on the winter comfort and economy of the home, heating engineers point out.

The best location for the thermo- stat is on an inside wall approxi- mately five feet from the floor and in a spot. where it is protected from drafts caused by. fireplaces. stairways, or the opening of out- side doors, and where it may be in contact with a large volume l air. This usually means that the thermostat should be located on the first floor in the living room, library or study, or dining room.
