B.Y.P.U. MEETS — The re- gular meeting of the Charlotte. town B. Y. P. U. was held on Thursday, in the lower church hall. The meeting opened with singsong led by Mr. Mitten. The topic for the evening was led by Rev. Robert Latimer, who took for his topic “TheChurcli”. The devotion was led by Marlene Chandler and Gloria Brown who took for their subject "The Ton- gue". Mr. Mitton then led in a recreational period. The meet- ing closed with FelloWship Circle and prayer by Mr.'Mitton.

Yesterday the Olave Biarke sailed from Charlottetown with a. complete cargo exceeding 70,000 sacks of P.D.I. seed potatoes con- signed to Hastings Potato Grow- ers Association Incorporated in Florida.

The ship, one of the most mod- ern, which has loaded seeded po- tatoes from island ports this year commenced loading at Summer side on November 20th and then proceeded on Monday November 24th to Charlottetown to complete the balance of her cargo.

Retired Ch’town I Business Man ‘ Dies At 78 Years

A former director of the now! defunct Charlottetown Selling Ag- encies, Ltd., E. Bruce Huggan,l died Thursday morning at the Liv- i ingstor—MacArthur nursing home; following a lengthly illness. He was,73 years of age.

Born in Monoton, the son oflthe late William T. Huggan of Halifax and the late Sarah Weld-on of Moncton, Mr. Huggan came to Charlottetown with his parents at an early age. His father was the District Passenger agent for the C.N.R. for many years.

He was married to the former Gertrude Bovycr of Charlottetown who predeceased him. They did not have any children.

Mr. Huggan was educated in Charlottetown and later became connected with the local selling agency. Prior to his retirement in 1957, he was connected with the firm of Moore and MacLeod for nearly a quarter of a century.

A sister Dorothy (Mrs. J.J. Da- vies) is the lone survivor of his immediate flamily. other surviv- ors include two nephews and two nieces.

The remains will rest at Mac- Lean’s Funeral Home from where funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at two o’clock. Interment will be in the People’s Cemetery.

Pleads Guilty To Forgery Charge

A young Tracadie man appear- ed in Magistrate's Court before Magistrate Gilbert A. Gaudet Wednesday morning on two sep- arate indictable offenses.

The accused pleaded guilty to a charge of uttering a forged docu- ment. He elected trial on this charge in Magistrate’s Court. The charge is liable to 14 years imprisonment. The accused was remanded to Monday for sentence.

The othe: charge facing the accused' was theft of an auto- mobile at Brackley. To this charge he pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned to Mon- day. >

A resident of Souris now living in Charlottetown was convicted on a charge of operating a motor vec hicle while his ability to do so was impaired. He was fined $75 and costs or 15 days.

A Charlotttetmvu man, pleading guilty to a charge of having pos- sess-ion of liquor in a place other than his residence. was fined $20 and costs or 20 days.

A companion also charged un- der the Temperance Act had his case dismissed.
