I often wonder whether ad a people we appreciate those two big things. We live so much indoors that we lose both these most ne- cessary essentials to real buoyant health.

For years we have been talking about the benefits of the oxygen of_ the air. how it has been the big factor in the cure of that dread ail- ment tuberculosis. Then we learn- ed further that with a little breeze in the air all the waste matter from lungs and skin was carried away from us. and we were thus cleans- ed more rapidly.

And now we find that this sun that means light, warmth. growth oi‘ all our fonds. has a most won- derful effect in energizing all the tissues of the body. its beneflcielltl rays are now known. and artificiall sunlight containing these rays, is‘ now a part of the equipment in most hospitals. Now we can't live like the Egyp- tisn. and as a people I don't think. we could now bring ourselves tnl like that kind of life. even if weatlr’ er permitted it. but we collld not. do better than get more of those’ two great things they indulge in sol much. that is. sun and air.

That is to say. our farmers are paying the duty on potatoes imposed by the United States Congress and people. '

Per contra l have often seen set forth in The Patriot the broad statement of’ Mr. McKenzie King that “Protection is taxation" which means that the people of the conn- try imposing the protective duty are taxed to the extent or amount of that duty.
